George,

Thank you for your post.
It is very good to know that you will be
taking action in an attempt to return the list to the standards held so
highly by John when he moderated the list.
The recent flurry of postings has reminded me,
and I think some others as well, that we need to exercise a great deal of
restraint when attacked by others.
I am just as guilty as anyone as I began to respond
negatively to a few folks and then realized that my responses were baited and I
fell into the trap.
My solution has been to route email from, what I
consider to be offensive parties, directly to the delete bin thereby removing
the temptation to respond.
I for one am looking forward to the return of the
list to the old standards that were in place several years ago when I
joined.

God Bless and best wishes in all your future
endeavors,Tom

Subject: [RT] Current state of the
  forum
I wish to address the current state of affairs on the
forum.I took over the operation of the RT forum from Kasanjian
Research when it moved from their server to the Yahoo groups. At that
time, I had intentionally meant to be a "behind the scenes" moderator and
wanted to allow for free discussion without any heavy handed
approaches.Over the last year or so, there have been several
problems to handle and I had done so both publicly and privately, either
by removing members for personal attacks or reprimanding them for
attempting to sell items and their wares, both openly and covertly. As a
result, I received numerous private emails stating this was too strict an
approach and more freedom should be allowed, some too obscene to
repeat here.It has been obvious that the recent posts have
deteriorated into name calling, personal attacks, and the like.
Unfortunately, I have had a change in circumstances recently that has not
allowed me to maintain a close, daily ability to monitor the forum and try
and maintain the decorum and professionalism this forum demands. I got
back in town last night, and caught up with the recent posts and was very
disappointed to see what has recently transpired. I thought that most
everyone on this forum would agree and abide by actions that respect
other members, but it is clear this is not the case.I have had
contact with Bob with regard to adding more moderators either by
individuals or a group of people, so that more than one person can keep
watch over the quality of what is being posted. To those who are
creating the personal attacks and trying to incite other members, posting
ability has been suspended temporarily in an effort to allow for more
posts consistent with the policies of the forum.I have also frozen
new membership pending a review of whether a questionnaire should be
implemented/redesigned for inclusion to assure that members will abide by
quality, on-topic posts and contribute properly.Of course,
existing members who have a change of email address can continue to have
access to the forum by simply emailing me with the pertinent
information. To all current members, please accept my apologies for the
lack of quality and I hope you will have patience in the short term while
additional resources are brought on to assist with the
  forum.George LimbergTo
