IMHO, Volume analysis is good when used with Open 
Interest and the Commitment of Traders reports.  Stochastics and Moving 
Averages will let you down and misinform you a large percentage of the 
time.

  I don't presently use consolidation patterns in my trading but I am 
  interested in developing an indicator for that purpose for the purposes of 
  testing its effectiveness for shortterm trading (less than a month).  To 
  answer your question: I use volume, stochastics, and moving averages to trade 
  at the moment.
