1) define
"major" : swing calcs require a Swing Length; of course, it can
be an input for flexibility.
For MAJOR turns I
would suggest a value of 50 or 60.....corresponding to a full cycle(UP/Down) of
about 4-5 months.

2) use daily bars
and store the swings and logging them to a large array
the BIG TRICK is
what to do if there are 2 consecutive SWING HIGHS or SWING LOWS
?
a) take the most
recent
b) determine the
intervening SWING in the opposite direction using a smaller LENGTH or just using
the LOWEST function
This will insure
you always have a cyclic data set....high,low,high,low,high,low versus
high,low,low,high,high,etc.

3) at the
LastBarOnChart, send all swing dates and prices to a CSV file; import in
Excel

realtraders@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSubject: [RT] Percent Swing
File
Could someone please provide directions on how to
construct a "Percent Swing" File used for timing harmonics.
I want to search historical data to collect MAJOR
Highs and Lows by programming my trading software or even Excel to collect
these dates.
I got the idea from this software <A
href="http://www.pulsetech.org/acycle.htm">http://www.pulsetech.org/acycle.htm
But I think $495 is a little
excessive.
I think Robert Miners Dynamic Trader software has
a similar function.
So I would appreciate it if someone could provide
a code outline for this percent swing file.
Thanks in advance
Steven
