Another way, is after the 1st of the expiration month, just plot 1 tick
charts of the current and next contract out, it becomes very obvious which is
the active contract.

simple way to deal with this issue is just mark
on your calendar the first day of Jan, March, June, Sept. each year...make a
morning call to your broker, or any broker and ASK when rollover MORNING
is..
