Now this I like. We're communicating openly
about trading. This is good for everyone especially any new traders who
may have joined this list and are "lurking" out there trying to learn. We
accomplish nothing when we bicker amongst ourselves.
My sincerest, Thank You.
We are all different and we must allow one another
to exist while maintaining our individualism. There is nothing wrong with
disagreement, in fact it is a healthy state, as long as we agree to
disagree and continue to coexist in tolerance of one another.
You and I agree on fishing but we disagree on
hunting. BTW, I do not hunt (nor would I kill an animal) for sport, I hunt
for the meat. I fill my freezer with a good winters supply of meat every
hunting season. One can understand why if you have priced meat at the
local supermarket lately.
We disagree on working nights and our approach to
trading but that is okay as long as we agree to disagree. I could have a
mechanical trading system. After 30 years in the computer industry and
several million lines of code I am a fairly competent programmer in C, C++,
PC Assembler, Visual Basic, etc, etc, etc. I am retired now so my
days, nights and weekends all kind of run together. If I were going to
trade with a mechanical system I would just open a managed Futures account and
let it go at that. I love the trading business for what it is and I
love to trade. The thrill of winning and the agony of defeat and all that
stuff. I enjoy challenging the market place, doing the analysis, deciding
which markets to trade, calculating entry and exit points, testing new trading
ideas/concepts and all the other work that goes along with being in control of
ones destiny. I do not and will not insult my intelligence by watching
television so trading is my profession, hobby and entertainment. When most
people are sitting down in front of the stupid tube after dinner I go to my
computer room and trade. Different strokes for different folks.
After spending all day with me I think my wife is glad to get rid of me for a
while in the evening :-).
It appears that we do agree on the most important
and vital aspect of our existence however. In 1967 the good Lord saw fit
to touch my life and turn me around. I maintain a very strong and ever
growing relationship with God the father and my savior Jesus Christ. In
the final accounting at judgement day we are all going to be held accountable
for the way we lived our lives and that is all that is going to
matter.
God bless everyone who reads this message and I
sincerely wish you all the very best life has to offer,
Tom

Hello Tom,TB> I am a
position trader and leave day trading to those
betterTB> suited for it.Yes, it's best to find a method that
suit's ones self, I agree.TB> I can not or will not day trade
because I know I do not make goodTB> decision under
pressure. I need time to analyze and select theTB> best
opportunities from a variety of different markets so positionTB>
trading is my strong suit.Yes, good point! The exact reason I would
suggest anyone who wishes today trade use computer generated
systems. As humans we are very weekunder pressure. We make all
the wrong decisions under pressure.TB> For a lot of
other reasons position trading makes more sense forTB> me because I do
not want to be tied to a computer or quote machineTB> all day. I make
my trading decisions at night when the pressure isTB> off, email my
orders to my broker for the next morning and then goTB>
fishing.Yes, a very good point! Not only do I
go fishing I often travel toChicago just to eat
pizza with a broker friend. I can do all thisbecause I have my
trading completely mechanical. My redundant tradingplatforms
send out signals to a secure site where my
broker thetrades.TB> Position trading provides me with
the best of both worlds. I loveTB> trading and make my living at it. My
work day starts at about 5 pmTB> and runs until about
10 pm at which point I email my broker andTB> call it
quits for the day. The next day up until 5 pm I can doTB>
whatever seems appropriate with my time. This is
sad, I hate to see anyone work at night
like that whennormally we would want to spend time with
our families. Even thoughyou are a end of
day trader with your days free. It seems you arehaving to
work the night shift and missing out on some things. As agood
will jester I would be glad to fully program what you do into
afully mechanical model for you which could reduce your work time
fromhours to minutes.TB> If it's hunting season I
go hunting, if it's fishing season I goTB> fishing, etc, etc etc.
My way is not for everyone but that is whyTB> God made us all
different.Although I would personally "NEVER" kill
something for the sport ofit. I am glad to
hear that God has touched your hardened heart torealize that we must all
try and get along.TB> God bless and best of wishes in all your
future endeavors, TomOh, and may the
lord, God be with you also and bless you and yourfamily.--
