Excellent points. That's how I do it so far. (Still
learning)
I have my entry indicators set up so they give me a heads-up
the night before. The next day I watch the prices about an hour after opening to
get the feel for the entry point, and make the entry. At the same time, I enter
all the appropriate stops. Since I use a type of parabolic SAR that uses ATR for
placement of my exit, I already have my stops figured out the night before too.
That way, I sleep at night and can go off and do stuff without electronic
entanglements. Next day, I just update my SAR exits and work on something
else.
Being a position trader too, I was primarily asking if or how
other position traders use RT to enter or exit their positions. I couldn't
daytrade. I'd go to the fridge and probably lose $20,000. (I used to hunt too,
but Seattle hunters are worse than a bunch of drunk Somalis)

Subject: Re: [RT] Futures-EOD or RT
I trade Futures and Futures Options using EOD
data.
I am a position trader and leave day trading to
those better suited for it.
I can not or will not day trade because I
know I do not make good decision under pressure. I need time to
analyze and select the best opportunities
from a variety of different markets so position trading is my strong
suit.
For a lot of other reasons position trading
makes more sense for me because I do not want to be tied to a computer or
quote machine all day. I make my trading decisions at night when the
pressure is off, email my orders to my broker for the next morning and then go
fishing. Position trading provides me with the best of both
worlds. I love trading and make my living at it. My work day
starts at about 5 pm and runs until about 10 pm at which point I email my
broker and call it quits for the day. The next day up until 5 pm I can
do whatever seems appropriate with my time. If it's hunting season I go
hunting, if it's fishing season I go fishing, etc, etc etc.
My way is not for everyone but that is why God
made us all different.
God bless and best of wishes in all your future
endeavors,
Tom

Subject: [RT] Futures-EOD or RT
I assume that this list is populated mainly with equity
(stock) traders, but for those of you that trade futures, do you trade
mainly off of EOD signals or RT?Seems that most futures traders
work mainly EOD but as more intraday trading techniques are developed,
it looks like it has some advantages.I chart and run my systems
on EOD data, but seeing RT data to better target an entry or exit
certainly would help. I'm sure that this is old for the equity guys but
do any futures traders do this?Got an entry or exit placement method to
share?-FPTo unsubscribe from this group,
