A good approximation; doesn't need to be equal.

A good approximation; doesn't need to be equal.

The computer may be superior. It does not have to be weighed down with
the 'survival stuff' that we have left over from our cave days, but
now gets in the way sometimes. :-) May not need the 'lossy'
approximations we have for memory and processing either. It could also
use quite different approaches to 'thinking', such as semi-exhaustive
search, which our slow brains could never use. It might not (I would
hope!) have the 'nothing-is-superior-to-me' complex many humans have,
either. If it does, heaven help us. :-)
MF> And do you think of an answer, or calculate one ?
I'm stuck with thinking of the answer. Later, the computer might write
it, with a short executive summary, followed by a 48-page attachment
detailing the reasons, logic, and references to support the above
thoughts better than I can without a *lot* of work. Hey - 3
milliseconds on the computer 'brain' may be about a month - maybe more
- of my thinking. :-)
And which would you prefer - my vague thoughts, or a well-researched
and documented essay on the mind = brain and calculation = thinking
questions?
