Yes Ben, controlling one's emotions are a part of the skills I referred to 
and one can be born with these abilities or learn them but they certainly 
are an important facet of any endeavor.  Another you didn't mention is 
regret.  Many people get their thought processes tied up with could of and 
should of rather than clearing the slate, learning and taking satisfaction 
from the learning process.  (God, I better close, I'm beginning to sound 
like that guy I filtered mail from).  :)) .. all best
