The media has their munitions confused. There are 2 bombs they are
discussing and only one of them has been used in the Afghan campaign thus
far.
The first is the so called "Daisy Cutter". It was used in Viet Nam to
create instant helicopter landing zones in the middle of the jungle. It was
named this because of the pattern it created on the forrest floor. It is
the 15,000lb bomb that is rolled out of the back of a C-130. It uses
ammonium-nitrate as it's explosive component. Here's a good picture of what
it does.

The second is the "Fuel-Air" explosive. It is the bomb that disburses
liquid fuel into the air and ignites it. Everything beneath it is
incinerated and most of the oxygen in the immediate area is consumed
resulting in suffocation for anyone who survives the initial blast. I have
heard no credible reports that we have used FAE weapons in Afghanistan yet.
The link you posted is a picture of an FAE and note that the text states
it's weights as 500lbs and 2,000lbs.
A rabid media does a really poor job of getting facts straight. They make
the same mistakes with gun lingo and computer lingo.

Subject: [RT] Look-out Taliban
We have started to drop the BLU-85 bomb on the Taliban. The most
terrifying non-nuclear weapon we have. It called an air-fuel bomb. It
weighs 15,000 pounds and comes down on a parachute and spreads out a
flammable mist near the ground that is then ignited. The concussion is
so powerful that the plane that drops it must stay above 6000 feet or it
can be damaged. Hiding in caves will no good against this monster. A
sequence of a small one exploding is at this URL:
