Dec bond futures = usz1
No cash settlement. There's delivery of 15-30 year cash bonds from
the cheapest to deliver basket. Pretty soon there won't be any bonds
to deliver though. Looks like the gov't is serious in eliminating
the 30 year and switching to a 10 year benchmark like the rest of the
world. The UK gilt market has always had a premium for the 30 year
because of lack of supply vs actuarial requirements for life
insurance cos. could be one heck of a squeeze and this is just the
beginning.
