There is a popular belief that gaps must be filled however there are many
occasions when this does not happen. What does happen frequent is that
broken support, which becomes resistance, is often retested. Generally, when
I want to short, I wait for the open so I don't get caught with an open
order in a gap down market. I then look for a return to the broken support
line (pivot low) and fade it with a limit order by a small amount.
Note that I do not have a position in EBAY. It's a personal preference but I
don't like to short stocks which are wildly popular.
