Harry, am very sorry for your troubles but this stuff was flying everywhere.
Your machine can not be infected by email attachments unless you open the
attachment and the attachment has the ability to carry a virus or trigger a
virus which has been previously installed. If you are going to open
attachments other than graphics and email, you should have virus software to
scan the attachment prior to opening ... GIF, JP(E)G, and EML attachments
are not a problem. Good luck in getting it cleaned up.
