Bush gave the rah-rah speech that was expected of him tonight.
Personally, I thought it somewhat flat, monotone and lacking
emotional cues. Why did he refer a number of times to "I" being
willing to wage this war and "I" being resolute rather than "we" (the
USA)? Given the general low expectations we have for Bush's speaking
skills, I think everyone is happy in the moment and that he didn't
commit any mistakes.
But once the euphoria dies down, it is an open question as to whether
the US public is truly willing to suffer a years long war
(like 'nam), body bags coming home, long-term police state security
actions here and possible additional terrorist attacks.
