MP plots the time a price spent within a
particular range. So with a 30min setting, there is a distribution of price
vs. time curve for the entire day based on 30 min intervals
Here is a link to one of my friends website that
goes into great detail. Also there is a link for a Zap Futures seminar you can
  view.

    Hi Steve,
    <FONT face=Arial

    thanks for your reply,...
However the most basic of all
charts that people look at are price by time, (price on y-axis & time on
x-axis)...& they arent called market profile..
So I assume there is more to
MP than just price by time.

Michael, MP is price by time, not
      volume

        Volume by Price

        Hi all,

There has been some discussion in here recently about market
        profile.
           <FONT face=Arial
size=2>     From my limited understanding of
the "Market Profile" it seems basically the same as the "Volume
by Price" indicator,  from BigCharts (see the 5 minute chart
        example attached) .
Can anyone verify if this is
the case please,....or not, & if not ..what is the difference
        between the two.
        TIA
