All,
There are outages all over the Internet thanks to Code Red II and
Microsoft's insecure software. Once it infects a Windows machine,
Code Red portscans nearby networks and machines thus swamping net
segments with traffic. Denial of service. So this virus not only
infects Windows machines with itself (and god knows what else) but
it also denies service to non-Microsoft platforms.
In addition several router appliancs seem to susceptable to the
DOS attacks resulting in crashes. Verizon and my local MAE were
both hobbled because of this.
No doubt the problems you are experiencing are related.
