Ira,
You may remember that I was interested in the long term bullish prospects
for Soybeans earlier this year? I have been watching a two year base
building process in Soybeans. If we consider a possible Saturn 29 year cycle
and consider that about 29 years ago we had a major stock market top, an
energy crisis, and then a major bull market in Beans to an all time high of
$12.90, the picture gets very interesting.
One may also want to consider adjusting the $12.90 high for 28 years of
inflation so that the recent $4.20 low equals about $1.05 in 1973 dollars.
That means that adjusted for inflation, Soybeans have dropped to less 10% of
their 1973 high. Please also consider that despite the larger low inflation
picture, each year during the past several years, there has been one or two
commodities that have rocketed to record or near record high prices. I
think the time for Beans either has arrived or it is just around the corner.
Forget high tech stocks. It's time to buy Beans for the kid's college fund.
<G>
Cheers,
Norman
