I trust that there will be no WW IV, although the business lobby will rattle
all manner of sabers. I probably depart from the widely held view that the
Europeans screwed up by killing the GE/Honeywell thing, even though they
probably did it for the
wrong reason i.e. to protect the over-subsidized AirBus operation. I think
far too many mergers have been blessed by our business contribution driven
political system and was more than happy to see this one killed. If this
frenzy is allowed to continue we will be down to one or two firms
controlling each major industry (in some cases we are already there) ...
great for the surviving corporations but not good for the peasants who work
for them and/or buy their products.
