Definitely agree with you on that breadth view as I see the same thing here.
Over the years I've tried to find anything that adds to the picture of
overboughtness or oversoldness and besides movement in high beta stocks one
is the option premiums in both an un normalized and normalized calculation.
Tonight the OEX $C/$P 0.46 and the $C/($C+$P) 0.3 are at a buy alert
level(ref Bob Carver's w.marketclues.com). Timing wise, the rule is two
days below 0.5 increases the odds of a rally within
A composite view of data used at the w.BullsorBears.com site also has some
of the components pushing on the green buy line after producing a great sell
last Tuesday. Tomorrow morning item 4 will probably be at the buy line.
Items 1,2,5,6 are there now. Item 3 will probably stay high since it is a
longer term expression and suggests that any rally that does come in the
near future is probably limited in price advance. It will have to go
through a gut wrenching drop that lasts a few weeks to a month or more to
get down to the buy level. It represents a real break in option traders
sentiment and thus valuation.
