I am a little confused as to how we are suppoed to calculate
UP and DN volume. Do we assume UP volume to be volume on updays (Close higher
than open) or UP volume to be volume calculated when the close>close[-1]. or,
failing these, is there another means of considering it?Tx.

do you mean 100*UP/(UP+Dwn+unch) ?  If you cumulate
that it will only go up, never sideways or down.  What about down
  volume?

uvol - dvol and cumulate it and then compare
cumulated(uvol-dvol)/tvol, then the 13 period XMA crossover times look
almost the same.  The tvol here is uvol+dvol+unchvol.  Not
too surprising since in the short run tvol does not change too much
day to day thus by dividing, the difference is just scaled down.
The big difference is in the relationship of the distant and some
nearby peaks or troughs.  It looks like the Normalized may have
an advantage with divergences sometimes like at points H and H1, but
at CD - C1D1 the un-normalized gave a greater divergence going into
      the price high. <FONT lang=0 face=Arial color=#000000 size=3
