The government still says there is little or no inflation. Here are
some facts that boggle the mind. Housing prices in our area are up 26%
this year. A 1/2 pound hamburger in a regular restaurant is now $8.50
to $11.00. I agree a Big Mac and a whopper are still 99 cents. A plate
of pasta runs about $13.00, a little extra if it has a meat or clam
sauce. I am now paying $1.85 for a gallon of gas, down from $2.10.
Remember when everyone was screaming about gas at $1.00 a gallon. A
liter of a soft drink that used to be on sale for 79 cents is now on
sale for 99 cents. My utility bill 2 months ago was $85, last months
bill was $385. The topper is that a party that I know was in an
automobile accident and spent 40 days in the hospital. Cost $529,000,
and that didn't include any doctors cost. Now I know why my health
insurance went up by 30%. But fortunately no one eats, drives or needs
medical care or a roof over their head so there really couldn't be any
inflation because gold is still under $300 per ounce. Just some things
to think about. Ira.
