I always thought it was really curious that he died within a few weeks of
proclaiming to the world that he was going to make supercomputing
workstations with the Japs and sell them to the highest bidder, export
restrictions or not. I owned 1000 shares of Cray Computer at the time and
was following the progress as closely as I could. I had the impression that
he was a little ticked at the NSA for not supporting him more with the
Cray-3 and -4.
I am reading "Supermen" right now. It's about Seymour Cray and the people
who built the supercomputer industry. It's a good book for anyone who's
interested.
