Hello Gary,
GF> Yowza. I always assumed your cray was a leftover from the glory days
GF> with your big trading boss, the one who bought everything in sight.
GF> I didn't realize it was a current model.
yes luckily i was in a position to continue doing contract for several
funds that i was previously employed by. this income plus the trade in
of a collection used equip. which included some old cray's i was able
to talk my wife into driving a ford and live in housing below our
means so i could buy new t90.
GF> If I can be nosy for a minute, whyinhell do you have it? Surely you
GF> didn't buy it with extra pocket money just for the buzz of telling
GF> people you have a cray in your warehouse. :-) You coulda done
GF> market research on a rented system a lot cheaper, I'd think.
i could have used a co-op machine somewhere but i figured if i was
going to really make money trading i had better get real serious. when
tw went defunct i poured money into hardware rather software. if you
look at regal's performance over the past fourteen years you know that
research pays. i figured if a old c-3 and some sparc's with some
brains mixed in could do that then i would forget the Rolls, Jets and
Sports teams and pour my resources instead into what makes the money.
besides i don't have to wait in line now for crunching time. two in
the morning i get an idea and wammo, i'm working on it. nothing like
striking when the iron is hot.
GF> GF
ps i knew this was a private note but felt it may be rude to not
answer publicly. gary fritz was a guest here when traderware was
first released and thats how we know each other.
