Them actual origin ..... not the composition is Option Exchange Index...
therefore OEX. Other folks have commented on it's composition, but originally
it was the 100 big cap stocks whose options traded on the CBOE. There were
notable omissions such as Phillip Morris because, prior to widespread multiple
listing of options, many of the Big cap optional stocks didn't trade at the
CBOE. Use this arcane piece of knowledge to win drinks at bars. Of course it
only works in New York and Chicago.
