I think that's one of the biggest advantages of trading a mechanical
system. The computer is blissfully unaware of any news going on around
it. That leaves the trader free to look and listen to whatever he
chooses without worrying about that affecting his trading. Personally, I
have an insatiable curiosity. I enjoy reading books and newspapers,
watching CNN and CNBC, and reading articles on the internet. I would
feel like part of my life was missing if I had to forego those pleasures
in order to be successful at my job (trading). Trading a mechanical
system allows me that freedom. Some people may enjoy "living in a cave"
but not me.
