I thought this might be of interest.  This was in the Politics & Policy
section A14 of July 3, 2000 Wall Street Journal.

"Farmers are growing more of the crops that are in Oversupply, Survey
finds"

Surveys released by the Agriculture Department show that farmers planted
more corn, soybeans, wheat and cotton this year.

There is a lot more but, I thought this would be the main attention
getter.
