Mike,

There are a few other caveats when setting up multiple monitors:

Windows 98 can manage 4 displays, a maximum of 2 AGP and 2 PCI, however there
are a few rules : Only one card can require an interrupt. The primary display
must be 16 bit (high) color or higher at the display resolution you will be
running. The secondary displays have no similar requirement. Most bios have a
setting on which display to bring up as primary (PCI/AGP) If you have 2 PCI
cards it the primary will be the bottom card in a tower case.

If you are planning on using your existing card, check the manufacturer's web
page. I found that 2 high end cards generally would not work together, but the
high end card as the primary and a no frills PCI card in 2nd place make
beautiful
pictures together (you may even have one of these in the scrap draw!) You can
mix resolutions, monitor size and placement. I have 3 monitors running on one
system. It was not that hard except: Be sure to turn off all cache for all video
bios and ram in the BIOS settings. If you do not Windows will hang on re-boot as
soon as it installs the driver for the second card.

One other thing to keep in mind is the drain on resources. All I can say is add
ram. 128M is minimum for a machine with 2 displays. If you currently have less
than 128M add 128M!!!!

Good luck
