<DIV>I've found that LFG offers fair commissions, but they have been
very steadfast in refusing to compete with the deep discount rates on the
e-mini. Since I was turning hundreds of e-mini contracts per month when I was
day trading, I looked elsewhere.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I've opened trial accounts with numerous futures brokers to try different
electronic systems and LeoWeb is the only electronic system which I have
continued to use for over 2 years now. I used my first browser-based order
system to trade stocks 3 or 4 years ago and have tried a number of them since.
It's been my observation that browser-based trading systems tend to be clunky
and slow while standalone software tends to be more agile and faster - at least
when operating over my relatively slow 28.8 connections.. I'm sure there are
exceptions, however I will not use a browser based order entry system for
regular trading and I certainly would not use one for day trading.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I used the TimberHill Workstation from <A
href="http://www.interactivebrokers.com">www.interactivebrokers.com</A> for day
trading the e-mini. The design and concept behind the TW was foreign to me when
I first installed it, however I grew to appreciate its elegance for day trading.
I've heard from a lot of traders who detest TW so your mileage may vary. It's
been over a year now since I used IAB and things may have improved, however the
only part of their service which was really outstanding was execution.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I will add an unsolicited comment ... a lot of traders try day trading the
e-mini and very stick around. Most blow out their account because they don't
employ disciplined money management. Most of those who don't blow out their
account find that they are churning trades and commissions without making
significant profits. Day trading is a tough enough game, but the S&P is king
of the tough when it comes to futures trading. Good luck.</DIV>

<DIV>LeoWeb is excellent for trading the full scope of futures contracts,
however, as you have found, you are paying a large premium to trade the
e--mini. The e-mini is a fully electronic system end-to-end and the quality
of fill will be the same at $4/rt as $20/rt. The broker's servers, back
office and support will vary from firm to firm and the deep discount firms
will likely score on the low end. If you are trading a lot of e-mini, I
would open an e-mini account with a deep discount e-mini broker and keep
your LeoWeb for backup (offsetting trades) on those occasions when the deep
discount broker is unavailable as well as using LeoWeb for full
contracts.</DIV>

If you are trying to get a handle on EW, I highly recommend Bob Miner's
book Dynamic Trading www.dynamictraders.com, in which he takes a
simplified and extremely practical approach to the use of EW when it has
something to add to the analysis process. It's probably the best $100
I've spent on my trading education during the past 15 years and it comes
with a MB guarantee. The techniques can be implemented using virtually
any TA charting software.
