[RT] Wash sale rules

How do "wash sale" rules apply to people filing taxes as a "trader"?  There 
8 permutations of buys and sells of a given security within a 30 day period 
and I am not clear on "wash sale" consequences or whether there are 
consequences to "traders".

1. long - loss; long - profit
2. long - profit; long - loss
3. long - loss; short - profit
4. long - profit; short - loss
5. short - loss; short - profit
6. short - profit; short - loss
7. short - profit; long - loss
8. short - loss; long - profit
