Here is a slightly different look at the demographics thing. It plots
the US working-age (20-64) population as a percentage of total
population. I'll leave any comments on how accurate future projections
might be, and what it might mean to the markets, to the economists on
the list. :-)
The data source is the US Census Bureau at
http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/idbsprd.html. They have worldwide data on
just about any demographics topic you can imagine. It's in .csv format
but it takes a little massaging in Excel before you can plot it.
