Anecdotal...Value Line is "Valuable". (from Jim Pilliod)

Ocassionally we all see or experience things in our daily
routine where something sets off one of those flashing
mental "alert" lights. Yesterday I was in our local public
Library,..and I hear a woman (incidentally was in a fur coat)
asking the reference librarian where the Value Line Survey was.
Turns out,..our library (small town of 20,000) has taken to keeping
it in a locked drawer,..you surrender your card,..you get to read the
Value Line report. Up until now (for many years) it was kept on a
desk, available to all, ..with other investment related items. So then
the reference librarian asks the woman with the coat for her thoughts
on what looks good in the market,..And this woman says... "why
technology stocks"...and goes on to talk about Dell and net stocks.
To me just another example of the unviersal acceptance of stocks
(particularly tech issues) as an acceptable (read sucure) asset class.
Recently, things like this catch my eye more often it seems. You
have to ask yourself if ever there was a time previously where
the absurdity of online trading commercials (Ameritrade,.etc),
would be accepted as "normal" as opposed to being viewed as
an indication of a mania.
