RESEARCH ALERT - DLJ cuts steel industry

NEW YORK, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette said
Monday it cut the steel industry rating to market perform from
outperform.

-- DLJ cut LTV Corp (NYSE:LTV - news), Metals USA Inc
(NYSE:MUI - news), Olympic Steel Inc (NasdaqNM:ZEUS - news),
Steel Technologies Inc (NasdaqNM:STTX - news) and U.S. Steel Group
(NYSE:X - news) to a market perform from a buy rating.

If you go to Yahoo!'s US Financial News, at
 http://biz.yahoo.com/reports/stocks.html
and type in "steel" at the bottom of the page, it'll
pull up recent articles with have the word "steel" in
them.  Stories of Bethlehem Steel laying, and Japanese
steel companies laying off.  Perhaps these layoffs are
the result of automation and increased productiivity, but
I'd want to look at that real close before jumping in.
