[RT] Re: Internet Realtime Data Providers

Andre,

I am a former BMI cable customer whose experience was that BMI was excellent
in terms of reliability, but lacking in both speed and quality of data. Now
I use TS2K and PC Quote's Hyperfeed over the Net, and am very happy with
both. PCQ did have some problems when I originally subscribed to them back
in August, but they resolved those issues and have been rock-solid since
early October. During that time I had the opportunity to speak to several
folks at PCQ and was favorably impressed with their professionalism and
commitment to their clients. I do not trade stocks currently and use
another service for options, so I can only comment on the futures/indexes,
but other reports I have heard on their stocks/options have been favorable
as well.

We all know that the Net is not 100% reliable, and there will be occasional
problems if you choose to receive data over the Internet. And if you use a
platform like TS2K that stores data locally you will not have an
auto-refresh feature which will result in holes in your charts when you
experience a Net problem. It is my intention to move to a dedicated phone
line in the near future, but here is how I have things setup currently.

I have my primary PC setup with a DSL line (static IP) that runs TS2K, PCQ,
e-mail, etc., along with a second PC that is used for Order Entry and a
Quote.com account (auto-refresh) and it is on a cable modem. This
configuration provides a backup in case I encounter a Net problem, and
allows me to manage any open positions and continue trading without
interruption.

If you would like further information regarding PC Quote, my contact there
is Terry Dyra at extension 2880. Terry is a good guy and knows what he is
doing. Feel free to mention my name, although there is no incentive for you
to do so, nor is there anything in it for me either. I just like to have a
positive relationship with companies I do business with and certainly don't
mind recommending a product/service that I am happy with.

Hope this helps,

Bob Heisler
