Yes. Don't get me wrong, trading multiples can be good or it can be bad.
It depends on the risk/reward of each trade (contract). As an example,
say on one of the contracts you have a large initial stop and a small
target. That will work fine if you have a very high percentage of
winners. You will have a lot of small wins and an occasional large loss.
However, if you were making money at 90% winners, you might start losing
money at 80% winners. That's why you need to crunch the numbers and not
take anything on faith. Go back through your trades and figure out how
much each part of your method is making.
For my own style of trading, it works better (proven by backtesting and
real trading) to put all the contracts on at once and exit them all at
the same time. I tried lots of variations of staggered entries and
staggered exits and they weren't as profitable. I'm going for a home run
every time and I'm willing to accept a lower percentage of winners. But,
that's just me. Your mileage may vary.
