[RT] Re: Data-Worden Bros V3

Dave,

Last week I emailed the changes that were necessary in
their V3 format conversion utility to make it work with
Omega products.

I told them explicitly the two things that were wrong with
their format.

Their ego may be too big to admit someone outside their
organization could find the problem but I have been working
with "original" ms/computrac data for about 25 years and
know those things backward and forward.

Using a utility I have, I changed the code to make all dates
less than 210101 (this is the equivalent of January 1, 1921)
equal to 1000000 plus current date value (their date for
January 4, 2000 is 000104 and should be 1000104)
and in the master file simply inserted a correct ending date
based on this.

All V3 files so converted ran in TS4 and TS2000 without a
problem.

You might bug them about what are they doing with what
I suggested.

Don't give up on them. Worse come to worse I'll write a
simple program to fix their files IN PLACE so you don't
have to create new files, etc.

You are right, they are an excellent data supplier and more
and more folks are getting where they can read the V4 stuff.

I have historically used Worden data for Super Charts 4 EOD. Y2K has
resulted in totally unacceptable performance. They keep trying to
help --but no luck. I am at a point when I think my only move is to
change data suppliers and can Worden. Hate to do it because they have
been very reliable and a good customer service group to deal with on
problems. But -- the show must on!! Any recommendations out there on
data suppliers/ Again -- I only need end of day. Thanks in advance for
any help.
