Yes things were different in Japan in 1989 than they are in the US.
The question is whether investors in the US (now) would hold long
in a bear market, or flee to cash. Japan investors sold en masse
and now a decade later are STILL reluctant to commit to equities.
Economic differences aside...has human nature changed?...Again...
do you think boomers here in the US will sit through a sizeable
decline....for whatever reason. I don't think they will,...and that was
the point of the post. Human nature does not change. JIM Pilliod
