[RT] RE: Re: Data Feed

I quit BMI last year due to lack of bandwidth problems. They didn't let me
have the $400 back on the box. They told me on the phone I would get my
$400 back when they received the box. A month or so later I called them and
they said no, read the contract, you were only using our box for $400 you
didn't own it.

I traded a lot of options and the RT quotes just quit in a fast market.
They finally admitted they buffered them in a fast market. Well it is a lot
faster this year than last. I lost a lot of money buying options over a day
or so with bad quotes. I should have seen the quotes were way off but I was
stupid.

I had a real fight on the phone with them. I had the name of the lady that
told me I would get my $400 back but they didn't care. They said if I every
came back to them for quotes I wouldn't have to pay the $400. As if I would
go back to useless quotes from them. Worst part is I had a buyer for the
box but sent it to them and really made my buyer mad. It was a lady buyer
and they get really mad. I was glad she only had my email address.

Hi Robert:
I experienced the same problem yesterday afternoon, N.Y. time with my BMI
delayed cable feed. I have been w/ them since 1988 but I have been
increasingly unhappy with the quality of the data. They do blame it on the
"unprecedented trading volume of the last several months." Not much
consolation if you depend on the data. I feel really sorry for the real
time customers who might trade more often than those of us only requiring
delayed data.
I had RT quotes from them until about 1993. I remember in those days, that
was before DBC took them over, that my data was so clean and trouble free
that my broker used to ask me for quotes every once in a while. Well those
days are gone and, coincidentally, I canceled my BMI annual subscription
last month. My service is paid through until 1/31/00 but, after yesterday's
screwed up data, I decided to "call it quits" with them and I am getting
ready to return their cable receiver.
Hope I don't have any trouble getting my $400 deposit back! Reaching them
can sometimes be difficult. They do truly want you to communicate as much
as you can online.
My overall experience with them has been positive though and it is with a
little sadness that I "say goodbye."
Right now I am in the midst of trying to find some Internet sights, free
hopefully, where I can get enough information to trade stocks and, perhaps
still trade futures, with some success. Any suggestions by anyone would be
appreciated.
By the way I have been a silent member of this forum for about a year now
and I can't tell you how much I have learned. I actually came to this forum
because of a comment by Earl Adamy when he was posting to the Ensign forum
back in the beginning of 1999.
Happy New Year to everyone, and to the RT moderators- keep up the good work!
Chris
