: Dear BS and All,
For the sake of brevity, I have edited Brad's original text so that it
only contains those points to which I chosen to respond. Please see below.
BS: .... It is obvious that you had a problem with Donald Mack for whatever
reason, all of which is
> something I know nothing about and is none of my concern, but it wouldn't
> surprise me if your conversation with Baumring contained the same elements
> of hostility which you seem to express in this response.
NW: Hostile? I didn't think I was being hostile?. I was just trying to balance
the hype by sharing some of my relevant real life experiences in this area. You
should see me when I get angry! <G> Actually, I didn't aim my original note at
you personally, BS,. since I am totally unfamiliar with you. I just threw out my
experiences and challenged the Astrological expertise of our three "Gann
experts", Brad C., Baumring, and you as a proxy for anyone who thinks they are
a Gann expert.. When I posted that, I was sure Brad C. was gonna get steamed
and get on my case, as our past has not always been perfectly harmonious.
However, such was not the case. You seem to be the only one that has gotten
excited about my post. I was hoping to irritate a few more. <G>
> BS: "... If this were the
> case it wouldn't surprise me that Baumring did not desire to communicate
> with you.....",
NW: Please! We have been over this twice before. They called me. It was all set
up that Baumring would get on the phone when Don Mack called. I also talked to
Baumring on several other occasions in later years when he was selling Bayer's
"Egg of Columbus" for $25,000. I had a client who was interested in acquiring
this book, but for less than $25,000. Anyway, the tone of our conversations was
amiable. By the way, do you think that little pamphlet, Egg of Columbus" is
worth $25K? Did you ever find any great market truths in there?
> ".....and I am left wondering why you have such an axe to grind?
NW: Forgive me, but I have an obsession with the truth. I think it must come
from having a
Sagittarius Ascendant. I am sure, given your studies, that you can appreciate
this. Would you like my
birth data so you can analyze my natal chart? I know you said you were into
"Cosmological" studies.
>
> BS: "...Regarding astrology, I do have Brahy's book,..."
NW: Oh really? I am the publisher. I have kept records of everyone who ever
bought this book. I have no record of Baumring or you buying it from me. Who was
the original owner? It may be on the book's cover. By the way, what does does
your copy of Brahy's book look like? Can you describe how it is bound? I need to
know if this is an illegal pirate copy or the real thing? Being in the
publishing biz, I am sure you can understand this. Thanks for your help in this
matter.
> BS: "... Astrology is only one of dozens of approaches to market
> forecasting, and Baumring's primary approach was not astrological, it was
> based upon the "Law of Vibration" and the work of W. D. Gann, of which there
> is very little existent astrological material...."
NW: I have several Astrological references written by Gann. I even have a letter
from Gann to a client
giving Astrological interpretation and counseling. I also spoke several times on
the telephone with
a former Gann partner, J.C. in Pittsburgh. If you are in the "know" you will
know who this was. I gave J.C. my word that I would never disclose his name to
anyone, as a condition of being able to chat with him.. J.C. said that Gann was
"primarily Astrological". J.C. worked with Gann for about 10 years during the
30s and 40s and J.C.'s father worked with Gann before that. J.C. and his father
were both Astrologers. Yes, this was on the telephone, and it would be hard to
prove. But, I do know a few others who are familiar with these facts and could
corroborate that this is true. .
> BS: "...To even evaluate Baumring solely from the perspective of astrology
> when he never promised to teach that to anyone..." ,
NW: That is my point exactly. He didn't teach them what they needed to know to
properly do the same
type of analysis that Gann did. Why did it takes us so long to agree to this
point? I am so glad you now see the light. Thank you.
> BS: "....As to "My Story" by The Seeker, and his loss of $40,000, the entire
> experience written of in that book took place before Baumring had even begun
> to study the markets, so I think you have mixed up your facts and
> individuals. I have heard many absurd stories about Baumring, but this one
> takes first prize, you are very imaginative...."
NW: Even I make mistakes. I got this information second hand, so it could well
be wrong. I didn't care
to pay the $500 ? or so for the book, so in this matter I have had to rely on
the "kindness of strangers" <G> Thanks for the compliment on my imagination.
You seem to be very imaginative as well.
> BS: "...Was it Newton who said that he accomplished his insights only by,
> "standing upon the shoulders of giants..."
NW: It was also Newton who replied when ridiculed for his interest in Astrology,
"I have studied the
subject sir, you have not."
Best Wishes,
Norman
