First of all, no feed will keep up with the pit because the data is typed in
by a pit reporter which means all data will lag the pit by several (or more)
seconds. IMO, the very way to compare speeds across various futures data
feeds is to use the all electronic e-mini. During my initial trial period
with DTN, I did extensive comparisons with other sources of data including
the real-time e-mini feed direct from the CME and the real-time e-mini feed
on TH/IAB TradersWorkstation. In all cases I found that DTN/Ensign kept up
with other sources and they seemed to have less delay than BMI. That was
nearly a year ago, BMI has since reconfigured their feed, and I don't know
if DTN has gotten better or worse. FWIW, I did the same comparisons with
Signal On-Line (now marketed as eSignal) and Quote.Com QCharts using a 28k
internet connection and found that both managed to keep up with the direct
from CME e-mini feed although QCharts had a slight speed edge for about half
the cost of SOL.
