ie. you trade customer funds on seperate accounts
check http://www.nfa.futures.org (national futures association) as you'll have
to register with them and pass a series 7 (tons of multiple choice questions).
There are sessions in Europe every quarter or so. There is one in Paris for
sure.
There are schools that prepare you for the exam, look up on the net.
CTAs are heavily regulated, lots of paperwork, strict oversight and compliance
audits from time to time.

Jan,
The exam you must pass is the series 3...the 7 is for equities. A very
good study guide is available through Dearborn Press and is entitled Pass
Trak. There are a host of "trial exams" and the material is very good.
Some of the sample questions appear on the actual test. There are two
types of CTA's: one allows you to publish without the restrictions (but
with guidelines) of just being a registered representative and the other is
for individuals that want to manage money.

I'm not involved with either entity, but, I used their material and have
passed it along to others that have been pleased with their results.
