Re:Can I run Omega + Universal servers together?

No two programs can share the same serial port, you would need to feed the data
from the data source to the second serial port. I have not been able to find any
program that would split the serial port on the computer side.

The first dawn of smartness is to stop trying things you don't
know anything about----especially if they run to anything
over a dollar.

I am trying to get the Universal Market Server from MarketStream to
run on my computer, with limited success. This is the server that
is used with TradeLab, Bay Options, and several other products.
It is a freeware product (as long as it is only driving one program),
and is distributed with NO support. The installation instructions are
OK, but naturally don't address my question. Perhaps someone
on this list knows:

My Omega server runs fine. I have it set on Com1 at 38400, and
it's just ticking away. Now, it would seem that I should configure
the UMS to the same port and speed. But, when I do this, I get
an "error 5" (of course, the error codes aren't defined anywhere).
I can get it to not give an error message by selecting Com2 instead,
and it appears to start - however, it displays "No Data".

So, my high level question is: Can the Universal Market Server
be driven by the same port that is also supplying another
server (eg, Omega)?

A more detailed question might be: Are UMS error codes documented
anywhere? Wouldn't you expect a company that expects its users to
self-support to make these available?

Thanks
