RT's,
I have been asked to give some examples of extended bars.
I have bought Dell Computers in December 1998, on 1-28-99, 1-29-99 and
2-01-99, each bar was the largest in ten bars and after each day, I moved my
protective stop below the low of that bar, I was able to get out near the
high of the move.
In the T-Bonds today, 10 minute (it will work on any timeframe), at
12:20pm central was the longest bar in 10 bars and placing my stop would
normally go under there.
As far as when Divergence appears and again on the 10 minute bars in the
T-Bonds, using a 14 period stochastic, the %K is at the highest value at
11:20 and at 12:10 there is a higher high but the %K is lower, therefore I
placed my stop under this bar which gave me just a little better exit than
using the 10 bar Extension.
Using DELL again, last year in July I had bought it, on 7-17-98 the %K was
at the highest point, on 8-19-98 to 8-27-98 had higher highs but lower %K
values comparing them to 7-17-98, each day I would move my protective stop to
below the low of the bar, I was able to get out one day from the top.
I find Divergence to be a great aid in trading for protective stops. It
can be used in entering as well, but I believe more care is necessary. Hope
this answers the many questions.
Jim
