Sorry to vanish for a few days after my query regarding active L2
daytraders. Thanks to all that replied.
I've been trading for a couple of months now. I'm using RealTick 3 with a
firm called Remote Trading.
They clear through CCS, unlike most others, who clear through Southwest. I
read so many horror stories on the net regarding account problems with
Southwest that I avoided firms using them. I'd be interested to know from
the others how your service has been (IOW, was it just a vocal minority
bashing Southwest?). I'm very pleased with the service at Remote trading,
they're been very helpful the few times I've had to contact them.
So far I been mostly flipping for quarters and halves, but I'd like to start
changing my strategy somewhat to go for longer runs. I'm curious to hear
what strategies are being followed by the others on RT. Do you go for the
longer runs? Flip for a quick quarter or so? Other techniques?
I recently read the Day Trader Secrets book, and was surprised to find that
many of the traders interviewed had lost a large amount of money when they
started. Is that as common as it sounds in the book? I'd say the average
trader reported losing half their stake in the first few months. Ouch. So
far I've been modestly profitable, maybe that means I'm not being aggressive
enough. ;-)
Any opinions or comments are welcome. Feel free to email privately if you'd
rather.
