One thing I wish I had was about 40 or 50 years of daily inflation Rate data
so that I could find the ratio of data to inflation. I've looked for this
before but not found exactly what I wanted.
For example; by my reasoning, the retail price of most things is about 5
times more expensive then they were in about 1970. If you applied that to an
11000 Dow we would be at about 2200 which was about 1200 more than the Dow
was back then. Gold would be about $55 per ounce. Sugar less than 1 cent.
Wheat about $50
per bushel (about the price it was in the worst of the great depression).
Yes, I know that the ratio is not perfectly valid but I find it interesting.
