Informative article in the April 26-May 3 The New Yorker magazine about two
graduate students majoring in physics and how they used their expertise in
physics to develop a system for beating roulette, which was later programmed
to be used as a "black box" system for trading the markets.
Currently trading with major Swiss bank and apparently they are doing
extremely well. Makes for interesting reading.
