Hi RTs,  

This may be insensitive, but your client was doing the wrong thing when
he went long because cotton has been in a downtrend.  Buying in a
downtrend is usually a bad idea.  

I rarely did anti-trend trades.  That was not my method to lose money. 
My method to lose money is using breakout rule.
