Sorry for not making myself clearer.
>4-08 when US breaks the 3-17 high (at your "trigger line broken" point)
I hardly ever use a lateral pivot of this sort as a trigger. Its just too
far away from the price action.
>b) on 4-06 when the market surges through the downsloping resistance
>or....... ?? and
>2) are you in intra-day or the next day or.
I consider the trigger in this trade to be the close above the hourly
dowtrend (the example is a daily chart)but I entered this trade into the
small early morning pullback on 04/07 (a Monday). You will find that
markets often pullback after a breakout. Thrust from the little pullback
formation is a great entry. If you look at the hourly chart from the same
period you will find that the pulled back to the top of the broken trend
line and then thrust... I entered into the thrust.
Your point in terms of the NOB is well taken. There were also other warning
signs in terms of the price action that suggested a failure. Whether or
not you took the trade off depended upon your trading perspective. I tend
to be a swing/short term trader. When I see a market go parabolic like it
did leading up to the high... I almost always exit. Note that the high
occurred at a resistance confluence.
Hope I answered your questions. I have to be out for a few days so there I
won't have time to follow up on any others, but if you save them I will be
back in Monday.
Stewart.

Two reasons for the BoE to make an announcement in advance of changing
its policy towards gold reserves:
It prevents insider trading, since the news is quickly made public;
It reduces the tendancy to try to guess the BoE's intentions by
monitoring their trading patterns.
