I used this information to setup my tradestation 2000. I
suggest you use it as
well. I have been using it real-time day-trading the
spooz and I like it.

I use win98, so this applies to it. First, go to
Your "Run" command, type in
"msconfig". In the "General" tab, select
"selective startup" and then
UNcheck "Load startup group".

I found
this section on the FAQ page, it did wonders for my system.

10. I use
BMI or DBC. What are the optimal Data Manager settings?
1. Use the Start -
Programs - Omega Research (OMGA) - GlobalServer menu
sequence to open the
GlobalServer.
2. Make sure the GlobalServer is in Online mode. To verify
that you are
using the online mode, click the File menu command and look at
Work Offline
menu option. If there is a check mark next to this menu
option, you are
currently in Offline mode; click the Work Offline menu
option to remove the
check mark and start the GlobalServer in Online
mode.
3. Click the Data Manager taskbar button to view the Data Manager
window.
Note: If a Limitations on Use of Information box appears, click the
message
box to continue.
4. Press CTRL+ALT+F10 on your keyboard.
5.
Use the Diagnostic - Erase Database menu sequence to remove the
existing
database in Signal's software from the hard disk. If this Data
Manager has
been taking a long time to open, this may take a long time to
complete.
6. Use the Data - Time menu sequence.
7. Under Computer Clock,
select the Synchronize Computer Clock check box and
then click OK. This
ensures that ticks are properly time stamped when the
Data Manager is used
with the GlobalServer.
8. Use the Data - History Apps menu sequence, and
click the Tick tab.
9. In the box at the bottom with columns labeled Key,
Version, and Type,
look under the Type column to locate the Tick App
application.
10. In the Key column, click the entry that corresponds to the
Tick App
entry.
11. Click StopApp.
12. Clear the AutoStart Local
Application check box. This will keep the Data
Manager from saving the tick
data for every symbol in every enabled
category. This takes valuable
machine resources and duplicates the work that
the GlobalServer is already
doing.
13. Click OK.
14. Use the Receiver - Exit menu sequence to close
the Data Manager.
15. Click the GlobalServer taskbar button to access the
GlobalServer.
16. Use the File - Work Offline menu sequence, which places a
check mark
next to the Work Offline menu option. This signifies that you
are now
working in Offline mode.
17. Use the File - Work Offline menu
sequence to clear the check mark; this
restarts the Online mode and
automatically starts the Data Manager.
Additional information for users of
broadcast datafeeds utilizing the
GlobalServer:
The Data Manager should
be running in Freeze Database mode. This mode is
automatically enabled if
you allow the GlobalServer to spawn the Data
Manager software by starting
the GlobalServer first. Additionally, by
default the Data Manager is set to
allow the collection of regional stock
information. Collecting regional
symbols will use unnecessary resources if
this is data that you do not use
for your market decisions. When enabled,
regional symbols can account for
an additional 20 to 25 thousand symbols.
You can disable the collection of
regional symbols in the Data Manager using
the following steps.
1. From
the Data Manager main menu, click on Data - Symbols.
2. Click on the
Globals button.
3. Uncheck the box next to "Allow collection of regional
stock information."
4. Click the OK button.
5. Click the Close
button.

These two procedures eliminated all my crashes, delay and
overworked
resources state.

Hope this works for
you,

########################
Shay Horowitz
<A
