Linda,

Regarding options it's not just you. Talk of options makes many traders eyes
gloss over. I freely admit that it takes some time and study to understand
exactly how options work and how to best use them, and as you experienced,
you can get a shellacking with options.

However; when used as a hedge in my view you almost have the best of both
worlds as Ira said. "limited risk and unlimited profit potential" and your
not always looking into the barrel of a gun which makes it much less
stressful. I remember that I resisted options at first because it seemed
like I was paying for something that I needn't pay for, but soon I realized
that I was risking and losing as much as I would have been paying to buy an
option or more and was routinely getting stopped for a loss. An option is
more plastic allowing you to hold a position that moves against you for a
day or two. I'm going to cut my "pitch" short because until you get the
vision and realize how they make sense there's little reason to go on and a
good education in options trade would take a book. I am posting this to the
list as some others may benifit.

Read your books and decide.

Brent
