Little boys or little girls. This group seems to go towards the thread under
discussion, as your note has. When I posted price objectives, there appeared
to be no interest. When I offered a solution to a problem, I received 50 e
mail responses in 1/2 an hour for something free that might be of help. It
appears that everyone is interested in coming up with a method that will help
their own trading and not prognostications of future price change.
If someone posts something about a move in cotton or copper, it forces me to
take a look at those futures and see if my system concurs. If it does, I do
something about it. If it doesn't, I will sometimes contact the author and ask
them to take another look. It should not change his/her mind if their system
says go, but at least I have given them the opportunity to reappraise the
situation.
A true trader acts upon what triggers action, not what someone else has to
say. That is why when I am actively trading I don't read the paper, listen to
the news, or seek any outside influences. The charts tell me all I need to
know. Every time I violate that rule it costs me money. The more it costs,
the longer the time between the times I violate the rule.
Have a good week, Ira
