Dick,
Imagine viewing the Great Pyramid of Giza from the air just above
its peak. Notice that
if flattened, it forms a square with many blocks subdividing it. If one
where to follow these blocks, starting from the ceneter, it would form a
spiral. If you number these blocks, starting with 1,
all the whole odd square numbers i.e. 9, 25, 49 etc. would line up on
the same diagonal axis.
It takes a factor of 2 to make one complete cycle around the square. A
factor of 1 makes a 1/2 cycle.
Here is the math involved using a $5 calculator. Take a number which
repesents a low, i.e..9 , take its square root which = 3, then add 2 =
5, then square this answer = 25. Notice that you have gone 1 cycle
around the square. One can do this for ascending the square or
descending the square including
any number, not necessarily whole numbers. To descend the square, one
would subtract a number of
cycles from your base number, i.e. Gold at 875 -1 = 816..84, -2 =
760.67, -3 = 706.52, -4 =654.36,
-5 = 604.20, etc. This is a demonstration of the square of nine. There
are others, but this is the one most commonly used.
These squares can also be used to plot the planets and thereby
determine where the planets and prices intercept to determine key price
support and resistance levels.
This is about the best I can do in a short e-mail. You can check
the many Gann references for a more detailed view. However, it is not
likely that they will give you the mathematical and Astrological
use and backgroiund that I did.
Spiralling,
Norman
